About this event

Who can prune a tree near a road, in a park, in my yard? How about those tree branches from your neighbor’s tree overhanging your yard, driveway or house?

Tree expert and professional arborist Jeff Speich will answer these questions & more.

The program will start at 1PM at the picnic tables in Murray Park.  Jeff will begin with a 30-minute talk and then will follow with an hour of hand-on pruning practice.

Park in the paved parking lot between the Feeder Canal Trailhead and Jack and Jill Ice Cream stand. Bring along your pruning saw if you happen to have one.

Jeff Speich served as Supervising Forester for NYS DEC for 30 years until his retirement Spring of 2022.  He holds a BS from SUNY ESF and AAS from SUNY ESF Ranger School.  He is a highly valued member of the NYS DEC Region 5 ReLeaf Committee bringing vast experience and expertise in urban forest management. Jeff’s professional training includes certification as an ISA Arborist and a trained responder for the Forest Service Urban Forest Strike Team. He currently resides at his family’s homestead and is renovating the buildings and managing the forest.
