tonight i decided that i actually belong in this wondrous town. there was an invitation only retirement party for a resident who has recently retired from the state police force. first of all, i could hardly believe i was invited and secondly, i only know this man from the local coffee diner and also, trivia. he happens to be a whiz at the game. all winter there was trivia night at a local restaurant and some of us “gamers” got very serious. you might say, down and dirty. my team actually “tried out” different players til we found the “right” fourth member for our team. anyway, this very retired trooper was on an opposing team and numerous times during the season, led them to victory. god, did i just say that! the party was held at a local new business with a huge bar and bobby dick entertaining. what a crowd, mostly locals and that is why i am still excited…i just got home and i feel like a bona fide local. this will only be my fourth summer here, but I AM NOW LOCAL. i do have to admit, however, that i only knew about one-third of the people there. my new job will be to get to know the rest! there was a delicious buffet and the band was playing on, even as i left. what a great and homey feeling to be part of this community, to be a local.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
