when the weather is “ify”, a sure thing is our squash apple bisque. we at samantha’s all make the favorite soup since we never know when we will need more. it’s one of our staples at this time of year….pure comfort food. i would say that the deliciousness is in the heavy cream factor. we don’t say that out loud as we don’t want customers to grab their chests for the inevitable “big one”. but let’s face it, there are 3 foods that we believe everything’s better with and cream is one. ( the other two are bacon and butter). we never said we were that healthy. BUT we do carry gluten free bread for sandwiches and we always have health-conscious selections. the squash apple bisque would not be the most popular food if we used skim milk!<\/p>\n

start with 2 pounds of cooked frozen squash, add 1 quart milk (ok,use 1% here if you must), 1\/2 cup minced onion (we use dry), 1 T. ginger powder, 1T. salt (pepper, too, if you like, but not a tablespoon). cover and simmer for 20 minutes. then add 1-1\/2 jars of applesauce and 1-1\/2 QUARTS of that wonderful heavy cream. heat through and then tell me you are on a diet! you had to make it, you had to eat it….because of the weather. i do believe it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
