in south glens falls on route 9, there is a new business. i found it while taking my goldendoodle for a play date with maggie may, also a doodle. it’s not hard to find since i actually drove by it many times as there have been many play dates. but my curious nature got hold of me and i decided to stop. it is located across the road from the old grand union. no cars in the lot and i wondered if the person running the place had been dropped off. even though i was tenuous ( no cars), i stopped. the name of the bbq restaurant is the iron pig, and though there was bar-b-que, and pulled pork sandwiches, i was drawn to the brisket. i remember brisket from many years ago and catering i did for the temple on marion ave. it was an inexpensive, flavorful piece of beef cooked slowly and sliced on the diagonal. well, so i decided to buy a half pound of brisket at 6.99 plus tax. the owner (didn’t ask name as i was to excited to get home to try it), included some juice, which was very dark and delicious. i poured that on mashed potatoes that my friend, flo, had given me the night before. the brisket was to die for….so tender and juicy and full of flavor. it was melt in your mouth wonderful. i stopped the next day for more. i must say, the place is so clean and cute and the owner (still didn’t ask name) so friendly, it’s a must-try. thinking about making beef brisket hash into patties for my restaurant for our breakfast. now open on saturdays, 9-3!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
