{"id":9642,"date":"2012-02-21T11:35:10","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T16:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/foodie-blog\/2012\/02\/so-retired.html"},"modified":"2012-02-21T11:35:10","modified_gmt":"2012-02-21T16:35:10","slug":"so-retired","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/foodie-blog\/2012\/02\/so-retired\/","title":{"rendered":"so retired"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>this retirement act is so wonderful that i have trouble figuring out what to do next. yesterday the writing group met here at my house and we talked about doing gratitude diaries for 2 weeks (til we meet again). each day we are to write at least 3 things? we were grateful for that day. and it seems that we can do repeats&#8230;that&#8217;s a plus! i guess i would have to say that i am the very most grateful for the chance to experience retirement. honestly i never thought i would be able to work only if i choose to. as a divorcee, i have fended for myself, totally, for 12 years and during that time we all know what the economy has done. my catering business took hit after hit, but by some miracle, and teaching for four years during that time, i managed to slide through to last september. it was also at that time that my college roommate (from the 60&#8217;s) suggested that we live together to cut our expenses. what a blessing that was. september 2012 will always be momentous for me. i catered my last party and made the last batch of honey oat bread that i will ever have to make. it may well be that i will choose to cater again sometime and i might even make bread! but for today, i am so grateful not to have to. my phone&#8217;s ringing and i am off and running!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>this retirement act is so wonderful that i have trouble figuring out what to do next. yesterday the writing group met here at my house and we talked about doing gratitude diaries for 2 weeks (til we meet again). each&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\r\n<title>so retired - Glens Falls Foodie Blog - Recipes Plus Cooking &amp;
