Mickey Hayes and his brother, Jamie
\nHayes, co-owners of The Hayes Group, are
\nplanning to diversify their business with the
\nacquisition of the former American Legion
\nHall at 29 First St. in South Glens Falls.<\/p>\n
They said plans are to convert the
\n10,000-square-foot building to climatecontrolled
\nkey-lock storage. The units will
\nbe accessed via an outer door so that items
\nbeing stored are not exposed to outside
\nweather conditions as they are placed in
\nor removed from storage.<\/p>\n
Climate control makes the storage units
\nmore favorable placement for items such
\nas documents, fine furniture, and fabric
\nitems that could be damaged by less controlled
\nstorage environments, they said.
\nSecurity cameras will monitor activity in the building.<\/p>\n
The Hayes brothers will be their own contractors for the project. They are currently working with the Village of South Glens Falls to set up an agreement for The Hayes Group’s donation of land adjacent to the building to the village park that adjoins the site. Expectations are for the storage unit project to be started in the coming weeks and to be completed by mid-summer.<\/p>\n
The Hayes Group have built or developed strip malls and other commercial buildings, apartments, townhouses and single-family homes, as well as doing some land development.<\/p>\n
The entertainment aspect of their business is reflected in their being a source of video games, jukeboxes, pool tables, and general arcade equipment. They have recently entered the food business with their development of the South Glens Falls Cool Beans.<\/p>\n
Mickey Hayes anticipates that his investments in South Glens Falls will be well rewarded, saying, “South Glens Falls has a bright future.”<\/p>\n
