Glens Falls Hospital is collaborating with the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic to advance the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR) in its physician and specialty practices.<\/p>\n
The hospital began implementing EMR products from Epic Systems in their physician practices in early 2012 and is contracting with Cleveland Clinic’s MyPractice Healthcare Solutions (MPHS) to assist in the deployment and optimization of Epic platforms.<\/p>\n
Cleveland Clinic was one of the first health care systems in the country to install the Epic EMR system and has more than 10 years of experience working with Epic, the country’s leading healthcare EMR-software provider, according to hospital officials.
\nA 2012 Forbes article estimated that 127 million patients, or nearly 40 percent of the U.S. population, will have its medical information stored in an Epic digital record this year.<\/p>\n
Cleveland Clinic MPHS offers project management and implementation expertise designed to streamline the Epic installation and ensure its success. MPHS analysts offer on-site services as well as remote support for installation recommendations, best practices, and leadership from lessons learned. Hospital officials said this is just one of several collaborative relationships the system is developing with regional health care organizations in an effort to improve quality and health care efficiencies.<\/p>\n
Among the Epic products installed at GFH is MyChart, which provides an extensive clinical and billing records portal for patients. MyChart has been successfully implemented in GFH’s community health center physician practices.<\/p>\n
Cleveland Clinic is a recognized leader in the adoption of electronic medical records and other technologies, and was recently named by Gartner as one of the world’s most-admired organizations for information technology utilization. It has an extensive network of hospitals and outpatient facilities that share a fully integrate EMR.<\/p>\n

Cleveland Clinic has pioneered many medical breakthroughs, including coronary artery bypass surgery and the first face transplant in the United States, officials said. More than 3,000 full-time salaried physicians and researchers and 11,000 nurses represent 120 medical specialties and sub-specialties at the clinic.<\/p>\n
