As part of a new partnership, Glens Falls Hospital will serve as a clinical site for Southern Vermont College’s (SVC) radiologic sciences program.<\/p>\n
“Expansion of our health care program is critical to meeting the workforce needs of the future. SVC is committed to this effort, and I am delighted to have Glens Falls Hospital as our new partner,” Karen Gross, president of Southern Vermont College, said.<\/p>\n
The partnership with Glens Falls Hospital advances SVC’s reputation for providing a state-of-the-art radiologic sciences degree, she said.
\nThe program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). In 2012, the radiologic program celebrated a 100 percent career placement rate of its graduates, according to the college.<\/p>\n
As the latest addition to SVC’s list of clinical sites, Glens Falls Hospital will enable the department to admit nearly double the amount of incoming students and increase the program’s elective class opportunities.<\/p>\n
“Surviving in today’s medical field is all about adapting to the evolving health care industry. Today’s radiologic technologist must have experience working with sophisticated technology in order to embark on a thriving career,” said Linda Lippacher, director of SVC’s radiologic sciences curriculum. “Glens Falls Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in the Northeast and with its state-of the-art equipment and Level II trauma center, it offers our students the opportunity to gain unique in-the-field experiences necessary for perfecting their radiography skills.”<\/p>\n
Glens Falls Hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology opened in 1951. With recent changes in educational requirements, the hospital closed its school. The partnership with SVC allows Glens Falls Hospital to remain an educational environment for radiologic students. Additionally, the agreement between the two institutions allows Glens Falls Hospital’s current students to continue their education under SVC’s radiologic program.<\/p>\n

SVC radiologic students will begin their clinicals at Glens Falls Hospital in the fall. Founded in 1926, Southern Vermont College offers a career-enhancing, liberal arts education with 17 academic degree programs for more than 550 students.
