\nmarshal for the 34th annual South Glens
\nFalls Holiday Parade on Nov. 24.<\/p>\n
Sequin started the Wilton-based organization
\nin 2003 as a way to support local
\ntroops. Since its inception, Operation Adopt
\nA Soldier has sent more than 200,000 care
\npackages to troops stationed overseas and
\nhas grown its mailing list to between 400
\nand 600 soldiers.<\/p>\n
The nonprofit also greets returning
\nsoldiers at the airport, sends cards and
\nletters to wounded soldiers recovering
\nabroad, runs a family support group, visits
\nthe Albany VA Hospital and adopts military
\nfamilies for the holidays.
\nSequin will join many floats, bands and marchers to kick off this year’s “Winter Wonderland” themed parade at 1 p.m. on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n
Toys for Tots and the Tri-County United Way will again serve as parade beneficiaries, and spectators are encouraged to bring nonperishable food or new, unwrapped toys to the event. Donations may also be dropped off at any Glens Falls National Bank location during regular business hours.<\/p>\n
