Glens Falls Hospital and Fort Hudson Health System have submitted a joint venture proposal to Washington County for the acquisition of Washington County Home Care programs. The two non-profit organizations previously had separate proposals being considered by county leaders.<\/p>\n
The joint venture will include the acquisition of the Certified Health Agency, Long Term Home Health Care and Hospice programs with each joint venture partner having equal ownership with a 501(c)3 tax status.
\n“We have collaborated with the single intention of assuring the continuation of exceptional care and services for the residents of Washington County,” said Andrew Cruikshank, CEO of Fort Hudson Health System, Inc. “The shared vision and mission of both organizations emphasizes cooperation and integration within networks of other services and providers.” The joint venture will be governed by a board of directors appointed by each organization; will assure continued service to the entire county; and provide existing county home care employees priority consideration for continued employment. It intends to keep the primary business location at Fort Hudson’s Washington County campus in Ft. Edward, pending further evaluation.<\/p>\n

Fort Hudson is a leading senior health provider offering comprehensive adult services to seniors in the region. It is comprised of a 197 bed skilled nursing facility offering post-acute rehabilitation, specialized dementia care, respite, and long term care. Fort Hudson also operates a licensed home care service agency, providing more than 120,000 hours of home care in 2011, service coordination, two adult day programs, and independent senior housing at The Oaks.<\/p>\n
Glens Falls Hospital, founded in 1897, is a 410-bed, not-for-profit, community hospital serving a six-county region of Northeastern New York.
