The Fort Edward office of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. assisted the Fort Edward Community Food Pantry during a Community Appreciation Day on April 17.<\/p>\n

Activities included a bake sale and raffle, generated $270 plus food donations for the nonprofit. The event also included free food, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and the Fort Edward Police Department provided child ID finger-printing kits and gun locks.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the main office of the bank raised almost $800 for Relay for Life, an overnight walk on May 30 that raises funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society, during a Community Appreciation Day on May 23.<\/p>\n

The bank held various fundraisers, including selling hot dogs, conducting a bake sale and having luminaries for purchase in memory or honor of loved ones.<\/p>\n

Locally owned and operated Henssgen Hardware Corp. and Haber’s Export Agency announced a change in ownership.<\/p>\n

Previously owned by Ronald and Nancy Shaw, the business was purchased by their daughter, Rachel Shaw Novak.<\/p>\n

Henssgen\/Haber’s has been in Queensbury since 1984.<\/p>\n

The company recently received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) by the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).<\/p>\n

The Washington County Fair Inc. will give away four $500 scholarships to students for the 2014-15 school year.<\/p>\n

Eligible
\napplicants are those students who have been, or are currently active in
\nthe fair, and who will be students at an accredited institution of
\nhigher learning during the 2014-15 term.<\/p>\n

The scholarship program
\nwas established as an extension of the educational purpose of the
\nWashington County Fair. This scholarship is issued directly to the
\nrecipient.<\/p>\n

The recipients of the 2013 – 2014 scholarships were:
\nJustin Braun of Cambridge, Breana Renae Scribner of Argyle, Suzanne K
\nFoote of Hartford and Sandra Dorothy Andrew of Eagle Bridge.<\/p>\n

Applications
\nmust be completed online and printed out. They can be found at
\nwww.washingtoncountyfair.com. All applications must be completed and
\npost marked or dropped off on or before 4 p.m. Aug. 1. They can be
\ndropped off or mailed to: the Washington County Fair Inc., 392 Old

\nFinancial Corp. , parent company of Saratoga National Bank and Trust
\nCo., was recognized by Forbes as one of “America’s 50 Most Trustworthy
\nFinancial Companies” for its accounting and governance practices.<\/p>\n

It
\nis the third consecutive year the Glens Falls-based company has
\nreceived the designation. Arrow is the only upstate New York financial
\ninstitution on the list.<\/p>\n

To create its “Most Trustworthy” lists,
\nForbes enlists GMI Ratings, a proprietary ratings provider and
\ninvestment advisor, to evaluate over 8,000 publicly traded companies
\nbased on factors such as high-risk events, revenue and expense
\nrecognition methods, SEC actions and bankruptcy risk. The financial
\ncompany’s list includes the 50 banks and insurance companies with the
\nhighest scores over the past four quarters of the fiscal year.<\/p>\n

GMI
\nChief Executive James A. Kaplan states in the article, “If you’re
\ninterested in investing in any of the companies on this list, you can be
\nreally comfortable that what you’re reading about them is an honest

C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls
\nHospital and the American Academy of Dermatology will hold a free skin
\ncancer screening clinic from 9 a.m. to noon May 17 at the center, 100
\nPark St., Glens Falls.<\/p>\n

This event is open to the public.
\nIndividuals with no insurance are especially encouraged to participate.
\nAppointments are needed. To schedule, contact the C.R. Wood Cancer
\nCenter at 926-6640.<\/p>\n

The Fund for Lake George is
\nproviding a grant of $10,000 to the Lake George Park Commission for
\ntraining approximately 50 boat inspection technicians.<\/p>\n

The
\nfour-day training commenced on April 28 and includes a comprehensive
\ncurriculum covering all aspects of inspection and decontamination of
\ntrailered boats. Inspection and decontamination is central to the Park
\nCommission’s Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Program set to
\nbegin on May 15 on Lake George.<\/p>\n

For nearly a decade, The Fund for
\nLake George has been a major underwriter of programs to treat existing
\ninvasive species, including Eurasian water milfoil and Asian clams.<\/p>\n

GlobalFoundries’ parent company, Advanced Technology Investment Co., is changing its name to Mubadala Technology.<\/p>\n

The
\nAbu Dhabi-based company said the change was spurred by the growth and
\nmaturity of computer chip manufacturer GlobalFoundries.<\/p>\n

GlobalFoundries,
\nwhich operates a chip factory in Malta, was established by Advanced
\nTechnology Investment Co. and Advanced Micro Devices in 2009. The
\ncompany now is the world’s second largest semiconductor manufacturing
