A new design-build firm, Sensory Six, a
\ncompany focused on creating commercial
\nand residential living spaces “that are in
\nharmony with the senses” has opened in
\nSaratoga Springs.<\/p>\n

The company, located at 18 Division St.,
\nSuite 517, is the brainchild of Sandra Fox,
\nformer owner and technology executive with
\nCHA, an Albany-based engineering firm.<\/p>\n

She said Sensory Six promotes a design
\nstyle it has named 21st Century Zen, that
\nfocuses on simplicity, luxury and health. The
\nstyle merges the use of color, texture, lighting
\nand art with technology, engineering and
\nmaterials to create highly functional smart
\nspaces that serve as both a haven and an
\ninspiration.
\nShe said the company is collaborating with
\narchitects, suppliers, artists, designers and
\nbuilding contractors regionally, nationally
\nand internationally, a network that Fox built
\nduring her 23-year tenure in the engineering
\nindustry and as a community activist.<\/p>\n

“Building a new space or renovating an
\nolder one always starts with a vision. We will
\nbring together teams that understand both
\naesthetics and functionality and manage
\nthose projects in a way that provides a superior
\nprocess and end result,” said Fox.<\/p>\n

One prominent component of the firm is
\nits ability to source unique artistic signature
\nlighting, which the company will sell separately or as part of its design services, she noted.
\n“We are bringing lighting to this area that
\nsimply has not been seen before,” said Fox.<\/p>\n

“We believe that lighting is one of the most
\nimportant components of creating extraordinary
\nspaces, and we want our clients to have
\naccess to the most beautiful and innovative
\nlighting available.”
\nSensory Six will also focus on creating
\nspaces that promote health and wellness because people spend over 90 percent of their
\ntime indoors, said Fox.<\/p>\n

The firm will design and build healthy
\nspaces through organic furnishings and materials;
\nuse of natural light; bringing nature
\ninto the home; and incorporating the latest
\ntechnology in water, air and light therapy,
\nsound abatement and bacteria prevention.<\/p>\n

Fox said there is strong demand in the category
\nof health and wellness, as people today
\nare more focused on longevity and improved
\nquality of life. Spas have been interested in
\nthis area for a long time, and Fox sees the potential
\nto extend health and wellness concepts
\nto other hospitality businesses, residences,
\nand offices.<\/p>\n

Sensory Six is following the trend of providing
\nresidential and commercial clients with
\nturn-key solutions through the increasingly popular design-build model. Fox said the
\nintent of design-build firms is to create a better
\nclient experience by providing the ability
\nto handle an entire project from initial design
\nto final construction.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Sensory Six will serve clients
\nwho need only specific services in new builds
\nor renovation.<\/p>\n

As she leads the new company as president,
\nFox will continue her extensive activities in
\nthe community. She currently serves on the
\nboards of the CNSE Children’s Museum of
\nScience and Technology, Center for Women
\nin Government and Civil Society, and Girls
\nInc. She is a former board member of the
\nCapital Repertory Theater and co-chair of
\nthe American Cancer Society’s Gala of Hope.<\/p>\n
