Stewart’s Shops is teamed up with customers
\nand media partners for its 28th
\nHoliday Match program raising money
\nfor charities.<\/p>\n
Last year, Stewart’s matched customer
\ndonations of more than $670,000 for a total
\nof $1.34 million, company officials said.
\nThe amount was equal to the fund raised
\nduring the 2012 campaign, despite having
\nsix less collection days due to the timing
\nof the holidays.<\/p>\n
Since 1986, the Holiday Match program
\nhas donated nearly $19 million to thousands
\nof local children’s organizations,
\nthe company said. Through Christmas Day,
\nStewart’s will match individual donations
\nmade to the program in all Stewart’s Shop
\nlocations in New York and Vermont. All
\nthe money donated goes to charity.
\n“Each year we rely on our customers’ generosity to raise funds for the Holiday
\nMatch Program and they have never failed
\nto meet the challenge,” said Stewart’s
\nFoundation President Susan Dake. “Stewart’s
\nmatches all our customers’ donations
\ndollar for dollar. Last year we were able
\nto help 1,471 different organizations and
\nthousands of children.”<\/p>\n
Local children’s organizations who wish
\nto apply for funding can pick up an application
\nthroughout the holidays at any
\nStewart’s Shop, or apply online at www.stewartsshops.com. The deadline for
\nsubmission is Jan. 31. All groups applying
\nmust be locally based, benefit children
\nunder 18, and be a qualified, charitable
\n501c3 organization. A brochure listing
\nall the local organizations that received
\nfunds last season will also be available in
