Amanda’s House was refurbished with help from the staff at Six Flags Great Escape\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nearly 75 team members from Six Flags
\nGreat Escape took part in the sixth annual
\nProject 6 Day of Service.
\nThis year, the team partnered with Glens
\nFalls Hospital to help renovate Amanda’s House.<\/p>\n

Amanda’s House, at 22 Henry St., Glens Falls,
\nis a hospitality home for Glens Falls Hospital
\npatients traveling a long distance for treatments
\nand for families coming to visit loved ones who
\nare hospitalized.<\/p>\n

Amanda’s House is free for its visitors and is
\nsupported through community donations.
\nThe house was established in memory of
\nAmanda Rose Cafaro, who passed away from
\nacute myelogenous leukemia. During her
\nstruggle, the communities in the greater Glens
\nFalls area rallied to the aid of Amanda and her
\nfamily.
\n“Amanda’s House has become part of the
\nGlens Falls Hospital organization to provide
\nbetter coordinated care for the patients and
\nfamilies we serve,” said Dianne Shugrue, Glens
\nFalls Hospital president and CEO. “The house
\nwill reopen in early 2015 thanks, in part, to the
\nassistance of Six Flags Great Escape volunteers.
\nThe project will greatly benefit the patients and
\nfamilies who stay here each year.”<\/p>\n

Tasks for the volunteers included installing a
\nnew heating system, painting the entire house,
\nremoval of brush and debris from around the
\nbuilding to improve aesthetics and accessibility,
\nand repairing\/replacing portions of the roof.<\/p>\n

In addition to Amanda’s House, a portion of Six Flags volunteers worked at Boy Scout Camp
\nWakpominee in Fort Ann, helping with clean up
\nand winterizing.<\/p>\n

Over the past five years the Six Flags Great
\nEscape Theme Park and Lodge have participated
\nin a number of local projects benefiting
\norganizations dedicated to the needs of children
\nand families, public welfare and environmental
