A state grant awarded to SUNY
\nAdirondack will fund a study, anticipated
\nto be completed in 2015, that will drive
\nfuture planning to support area industries
\nincluding, but not limited to, agriculture,
\nhealthcare and the trades.<\/p>\n
It was announced in December that the
\ncollege will receive $65,000 to conduct a
\nfeasibility study for a potential regional
\neducation site in Washington County.<\/p>\n
The funds were secured through a
\ncompetitive bid through the Regional Economic
\nDevelopment Council (REDC) and
\nsponsored by the Washington County Local
\nDevelopment Corporation (LDC).
\nLocal officials said the money will fund
\na plan to help to determine what types of
\neducation and training offerings are needed
\nin the county, to identify key partners and
\nto determine if there is a convenient and
\nstrategic location.<\/p>\n
“The college is grateful to the Regional
\nEconomic Development Council and our
\npartners at the Washington County LDC
\nfor their support of this planning study,” said Dr. Kristine Duffy, president of SUNY
\nAdirondack. “As one of our sponsoring counties,
\nit’s a key part of the college’s strategic
\nplan to provide high quality and affordable
\neducation opportunities that are easily accessible
\nto Washington County residents.”<\/p>\n
A Request for Proposal will be crafted in
\ncoordination with the Washington County
\nLDC, which will serve as the lead agent for
\nidentifying a well-qualified organization to
\nconduct the survey.<\/p>\n
The planned study will include labor
\nmarket analysis, interviews with area
\nbusiness and education leaders, and assessment
\nof the financial sustainability of
\nexpanding SUNY Adirondack’s footprint
\nin the region.<\/p>\n

\nthis effort which is ultimately expected to
\nlead to increased program offerings and
\na direct presence in Washington County,”
\nsaid Washington County LDC Executive
