The town of Queensbury was awarded funding
\nthat will be made available for home rehabilitation
\nwork in west Glens Falls and south
\nQueensbury.<\/p>\n
Queensbury Supervisor John Strough said
\n$300,000 was received from the New York State
\nOffice of Community Renewal through the New
\nYork State Housing Trust Fund HOME Program.
\nHe said these funds will be used to continue
\nthe town’s housing rehabilitation grant program
\nfor income eligible single family home owners
\nin these areas.<\/p>\n
“The Town of Queensbury is grateful for the
\nfunds received to continue its housing rehabilitation
\nprogram,” said Strough. “We are pleased
\nthat the state Office of Community Renewal
\nrecognizes that much of the housing supply in
\nthe West Glens Falls and South Queensbury
\nareas of the Town is old and in need of repairs.”
\nHe added, “many home owners work hard
\nto keep their properties in good condition, but
\ndespite their best efforts, they do not have the
\nmoney available to make major repairs. The
\nfederal funds received by the town through this
\ncompetitive housing grant program are instrumental
\nfor improving the living conditions for
\nthese residents, especially those with very low
\nincomes and at the poverty level.”<\/p>\n
This funding will be used to address necessary
\nhome repairs. Needed repairs such as defects to
\nthe roof and foundation will be given first consideration,
\nthe supervisor said. Priority will then be
\ngiven to other building components which may
\naffect the safety of the residents including faulty
\nwiring, plumbing, and heating systems.<\/p>\n
Any resident in the West Glens Falls or South
\nQueensbury sections of the town that owns and
\nresides in a single-family dwelling, and believes
\nthey may be income eligible, is welcome to apply
\nfor assistance.<\/p>\n
