A new restaurant, Cook Street Station, is
\nexpected to open in May in Whitehall, taking
\nover where Lucia’s restaurant operated
\nstarting in 2012.<\/p>\n
Cook Street Station, 209 Broadway, is
\nowned and operated by Shelly and David
\nCarpenter. The husband and wife team
\nhave extensive experience in the restaurant
\nindustry. Shelly has worked as a pastry chef
\nfor the past six years and David has been
\na chef in area restaurants for seven years.
\nCombined they have 23 years of experience
\nbringing high quality service to customers.<\/p>\n
Owners of Lucia’s, Roxanne and David
\nWaters, are leaving the business due to
\npersonal reasons. Prior to being Lucia’s, it
\nwas site of the popular Roma Restaurant.
\nInspired by their passion for homemade
\ncooking, the Carpenters intend to bring
\ncasual pub food to the menu at Cook Street
\nStation. Traditionally the menu at Lucia’s
\nand Roma was Italian.
\n“We want to have a broader appeal,” said
\nCarpenter about the decision to create the
\nmore casual menu.<\/p>\n
The menu will feature a variety of burgers
\nand pizzas. There will be specialty sandwiches,
\nsuch as a Reuben made with their
\ncorned beef that is braised in house, and a
\nMonte Cristo made on challah bread baked in the restaurant.
\n“I’m really looking forward to the Cuban,
\nbecause we’re going to do that on a housemade
\npretzel bread,” said Carpenter. “And
\nwe’re also going to do a salmon with a corn
\nand bacon risotto.”<\/p>\n
One event Cook Street Station is planning
\nis Roma Nights. As a tribute to the Roma
\nRestaurant, these nights will be used to offer
\nItalian cuisine. There will be live pasta
\nstations, hand-tossed pizzas, antipasto stations,
\nand homemade breads.<\/p>\n
The Carpenters said customers will be
\nable to taste the difference when they come
\ninto the restaurant. “We’ll have breads made
\nfrom scratch, all of the desserts are going to
\nbe homemade… Experience in the industry
\nis going to help us stand out.”<\/p>\n
The restaurant is undergoing redecorating
\nto help modernize the facility. The
\nrestaurant is expecting to receive its liquor
\nlicense shortly. Cook Street Station is tentatively
\nscheduled to open in early May.<\/p>\n
The restaurant will be open Wednesday
\nthrough Sunday to begin. Wednesdays and
\nThursdays the restaurant will open from
\n11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays
\nfrom 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sundays from
\n11 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
