George’s Restaurant in Lake George is now
\nre-opened for business, rebounding after a
\nfire in 2014 forced closure for the last year.<\/p>\n

It was April 15, 2014, when operating
\npartner Ted Bearor reviewed his to-do list
\nfor the opening of the seasonal restaurant.<\/p>\n

The staff was hired and trained, the menus
\nupdated, minor cosmetic enhancements
\nand organization completed and technology
\nsystems improved. He was confident it was
\ngoing to be a strong season. Then he was
\nawoken by a 2 a.m. phone call. An electrical
\nfire had damaged the restaurant’s kitchen.<\/p>\n

Initially, Bearor hoped to reopen later
\nin the summer. But an engineer’s report
\nrevealed the damage was more substantial
\nthan anticipated, sinking any hopes of a
\n2014 opening.<\/p>\n

“To say it was a difficult time would be
\na major understatement. We had put in so
\nmuch preparation, and we felt like we were
\nwell positioned for a great summer,” said
\nBearor, who was entering his second year as
\noperating partner. “It actually took a couple
\nof weeks to sink in. But once we were able
\nto assess the situation, we committed with
\nresolve to come back better than ever.”<\/p>\n

After a soft opening last night for friends,
\nfamily and supporters, George’s Restaurant
\nofficially opened for the 2015 season on
\nMay 28.<\/p>\n

Restaurant hours will be 4:30 p.m. to 9
\np.m., seven days a week, through Labor Day
\nweekend. The “early bird special” menu will
\nremain available between 4:30 p.m. and 6
\np.m.<\/p>\n

“Customers will definitely see some changes to the restaurant,” Bearor said of the
\nconstruction project. “We’ve modernized and
\nexpanded the kitchen and have relocated
\nand enhanced the salad bar, which has long
\nbeen a customer favorite. We have added two
\nhouse-made soups and wanted it to be more
\nof a feature than ever before. But we’re still
\nGeorge’s, from the chandeliers and mirrors to
\nthe menu. We have been and will always be a
\nuniquely Adirondack restaurant experience.”<\/p>\n

George’s menu is marked by three distinct
\ncategories: From the Butcher’s Block, which
\nfeatures George’s prime rib, steak and baby
\nback ribs; From the Sea, with dishes ranging
\nfrom broiled haddock to bronzed fresh sea
\nscallops, king crab and lobster; and From
\nthe Farm and Garden, a selection of poultry,
\npasta and vegetables, including items like
\nchicken penne a la vodka, parmesan, duck,
\nand vegetable napoleon.<\/p>\n

George’s also offers an appetizer menu
\nthat features a daily raw bar with oysters,
\ncrab claws, chilled shrimp and clams. The
\ndessert menu, as well as an after dinner coffee
\ndrink menu, features classic confections
\nlike cheesecake and tiramisu.<\/p>\n

George’s beverage menu showcases handcrafted
\ncocktails, signature specialty martinis,
\na well-rounded wine selection and local
\nNew York state craft beer on tap.<\/p>\n

George’s is located on the east side of Lake
\nGeorge on Route 9L. Ample free parking
\navailable. Reservations are recommended
