The Glens Falls Foundation approved more
\nthan $14,000 in grants to help the WAIT House
\nin Glens Fall, the Code Blue Saratoga homeless
\nshelter, the Steps for Stroke program, and the
\nHistorical Society of Moreau and South Glens
\nFalls.<\/p>\n
The foundation gave a $5,000 grant to WAIT
\nHouse, a shelter for homeless youths. WAIT
\nHouse was established in 1998 and has provided
\nmore than 18,000 bed nights to more than 1,000
\nhomeless youths since its establishment. It offers
\na variety of educational and skill-building
\nprograms with the goal of helping homeless
\nteens continue their education, find jobs and get
\ninto safe permanent living situations.<\/p>\n
WAIT House extends its services into family
\nlife as well, assisting families who are at risk of
\nbecoming homeless struggling to maintain a
\nstable family environment, and seeking to attain
\nsafe, permanent housing.
\nThe Code Blue Shelter, located at the Salvation
\nArmy in Saratoga Springs, provides safe,
\nwarm emergency housing for the homeless when
\nthe temperatures dip below 20 degrees or 12
\ninches of snow falls. A grant of $5,020 will assist
\nwith the purchase of 20 sleeping cots, lockable
\nstorage bins, a boot fund and other expenses.<\/p>\n
The Foundation gave $2,500 to improved access
\nfor disabled visitors at the Historical Society
\nof Moreau and South Glens Falls at 46 Saratoga
\nAve., South Glens Falls.<\/p>\n
A grant of $1,535 was awarded to the Steps
\nfor Stroke program to underwrite the cost of developing
\ninformational folders for patients and
\ncaregivers. The nonprofit organization provides
\ntransportation, information and other support
\nfor stroke survivors during the rehabilitation
