{"id":17864,"date":"2015-09-16T11:45:22","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T15:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2015\/09\/students-get-funding-from-hrccu-program.html"},"modified":"2015-09-16T11:45:22","modified_gmt":"2015-09-16T15:45:22","slug":"students-get-funding-from-hrccu-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2015\/09\/students-get-funding-from-hrccu-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Get Funding From HRCCU Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hudson River Community Credit Union<br \/>\n(HRCCU) announced the winners of its 2015<br \/>\ncollege scholarships and Making Life Better<br \/>\nAward.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the following student members<br \/>\nreceived a $1,000 scholarship: Erin Anderson,<br \/>\nHadley\/Luzerne High School; Hannah<br \/>\nAndrews, home school; Mark Brenner,<br \/>\nShenendehowa High School; Sean Conners,<br \/>\nCohoes High School, and Malcolm O&#8217;Hara,<br \/>\nQueensbury High School.<\/p>\n<p>Anderson also received the $1,000 Making<br \/>\nLife Better Award, HRCCU&#8217;s community<br \/>\nservice-focused award.<br \/>\n&#8220;Our annual HRCCU Scholarship and<br \/>\nCommunity Service Award Program is a<br \/>\ngreat opportunity for us to help support the<br \/>\ndreams of higher education of our young<br \/>\nadult members.&#8221; said Sue Commanda, CEO<br \/>\nof HRCCU. &#8220;I like to think that through this<br \/>\nprogram we&#8217;re helping to make lives better<br \/>\nfor our members now, and in the future,&#8221;<br \/>\nshe added.<\/p>\n<p>The HRCCU College Scholarship Program<br \/>\nbegan in 1994 to promote and foster the<br \/>\neducational endeavors of the credit union&#8217;s<br \/>\nyoung adult member\/owners. To date, 83<br \/>\nlocal students have benefited from HRCCU&#8217;s<br \/>\nCollege Scholarship Program with awards<br \/>\ntotaling over $69,000.<\/p>\n<p>Hudson River Community Credit Union is<br \/>\na nonprofit financial cooperative owned and<br \/>\ngoverned by its members. Its mission is to<br \/>\nimprove the well-being of members and their<br \/>\nfamilies by providing quality financial services<br \/>\nwith the best overall value. Membership is open<br \/>\nto anyone who lives, works, worships, attends<br \/>\nschool, business and\/or other legal entities<br \/>\nlocated in Warren, Washington, Saratoga and<br \/>\nRensselaer counties, Cohoes, Watervliet and<br \/>\nGreen Island and their family members.
