After much anticipation, months of research,
\nand a long waiting period with the state
\nDepartment of Transportation, the Lotus Group
\nof Companies has been approved to run the
\nLotus Link, a service with public and private
\ntransit options, from Warrensburg to Glens Falls.<\/p>\n
The Lotus Group conducted a series of surveys,
\nattended the Senior Center monthly meetings,
\nand held a public interest forum to make sure
\nthat the public was in support of Ash Anand’s
\nplan to implement a convenient, affordable
\nmeans of transportation. Anand is one of the
\nfounders of Lotus.<\/p>\n
The company said its discussions and survey
\nresults showed that many residents north of
\nGlens Falls do not have their own vehicle, are
\nunable to operate a motor vehicle due to age or
\ninjury, or simply would like a more affordable
\ntransportation option.
\nAccording to the company, Lotus Link service
\nwill not only help area residents, but bring new
\nbusiness and exposure to local establishments,
\nincrease tourism in northern Warren County,
\nand give local businesses a new, innovate way
\nto advertise.<\/p>\n
The proposed route will start in Warrensburg\/
\nThurman and travel down Route 9, stopping
\nat various heavily frequented destinations.
\nStops will include Warrensburg Town Hall,
\nWarrensburg Health Center, Price Chopper,
\nLake George Village, Warren County Municipal
\nCenter, the Great Escape, Walmart, the Aviation
\nMall, and Glens Falls Hospital.<\/p>\n
Tentative ticket prices will be $4 per trip,
\n$25\/week unlimited, $70\/month unlimited,
\nwith 50 percent discounts for senior citizens
\nand students. Advertising space will be sold to
\nbusinesses for different sizes\/rates and will have
\npackaging available with social media blasts and
\n“inside seating” flyers.<\/p>\n
The Lotus Group is currently researching
\nprivate charter contracts for medical transport,
\ngroup trips, destination transport (Albany
\nAirport, SPAC, etc.) and is open to any
\nsuggestions the public may have.<\/p>\n
The Lotus team is currently solidifying details
\nof the service, route, and private charter options.
\n“We cannot wait for this program to launch
\nand would like to thank the community for their
\nsupport and outreach in efforts to get the Lotus
\nLink on the road,” a company statement said.<\/p>\n
