Distinctive Design Kitchens, located on 727
\nUpper Glen St. in Queensbury, is a family business
\nowned by William Winters and his wife, Jacklyn.<\/p>\n

A showroom specializing in kitchen remodeling,
\ncustom cabinetry for both home and professional
\noffices, custom closets, wine cellars, hardwood and
\ntile flooring, and more, Distinctive Design Kitchens
\nowners are excited about the response they received
\nfrom the public during its grand opening event
\non Sept. 12.<\/p>\n

William, who goes by the nickname, Josh, said
\nthe response from the public was “phenomenal.”
\n“People were waiting at 9:30 a.m. to enter the
\nshowroom at 11 a.m. and be among the first to
\nschedule a complimentary space measurement
\nand receive a free upgrade from laminate to granite
\ncountertops, a $1000 value,” he said. That Saturday,
\nthe company scheduled 17 kitchen measurement
\nappointments.<\/p>\n

Winters said he is excited to see his vision
\nof designing spaces and creating major
\ntransformations for customers becoming a reality.
\nWinters and his wife spent the last five
\nyears attracting investors and finding vendors,
\ngeneral contractors, in-house designers and color
\nconsultants, before opening their doors.<\/p>\n

People can go into the showroom and take
\nadvantage of the expertise of two in-house
\ndesigners, who will work with them at no additional
\ncharge to create an ideal kitchen or custom space.
\nCustomers will also be able to select cabinetry,
\ncountertops and flooring from a range of price
\npoints and styles.<\/p>\n

Winters worked in the construction field since
\n1998, when he graduated high school and began
\nworking for his uncle. He continued working
\nsummers while pursuing a degree in education
\nfrom SUNY Plattsburgh, scheduling his classes
\nso he would be free to work construction Fridays
\nthrough Mondays and attend classes Tuesdays
\nthrough Thursdays.<\/p>\n

“My father is an eye doctor in town and my
\nmother is a partner in the local REMax office, so I
\nguess being self-employed is in our blood,” he said.
\n“Even though I knew I loved construction, I went
\nto college to make my parents happy. I think my
\nparents were more concerned that doing manual
\nlabor would be a hard way to earn a living and they
\nwanted the best for me.”<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, as soon as he graduated from college,
\nhe immediately returned to construction full time.
\nIn 2006, Winters began looking for new
\nchallenges and relocated to Florida’s “Space Coast,”
\nthe area between Stewart and Titusville. Within two
\nyears, he and his crew had installed more than 200
\nnew kitchens. By 2010, Josh and Jacklyn were ready
\nto return to the Glens Falls area to create their own
\nbusiness and showroom.<\/p>\n

The showroom is open daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
