“It’s like a gym in your basement or garage–
\nonly cheaper,” said Elite Fitness owner-operator
\nSiobhan Wohlfarth.<\/p>\n

The center, at 130 Broad St. in Glens Falls, is
\nopen to members 24 hours a day. It offers weight
\nand cardiovascular exercise machines, free
\nweights and kettle bells.<\/p>\n

So far, there are 52 members, said Wohlfarth.
\nThere was “an influx of a lot of nurses” and a mix
\nof men and women, homemakers, working folks
\nand seniors in the mix.<\/p>\n

Most of the members are there to try to improve
\ntheir general health, Wohlfarth said, with an
\nemphasis on improving mobility, strength and
\nagility.
\nShe is an ISSA-certified personal trainer.
\nBrian Potter is the other trainer at Elite. So far,
\nthere are no other employees. Ed Moore Jr., the
\nmajority owner of Elite Fitness, is not active in
\ndaily running the business.<\/p>\n

The gym offers a complementary 30-minute
\nintroductory session, including a nutrition
\nconsultation. A member can also bring a friend
\nfor a free session. Once a member joins, he or she
\nwill probably remain on the original program for
\nabout a month and then change to something
\nnew, said Wohlfarth.<\/p>\n

In addition to individual programs, the gym
\noffers small group circuit training, consisting of
\nfive to 10 people at a time. Members can also
\ncontrol the television or stereo during their
\nworkout.<\/p>\n

Wohlfath is a Corinth High School graduate
\nand lives in Queensbury. She studied psychology
\nat SUNY Plattsburgh’s Queensbury branch.<\/p>\n

Before investing in Elite Fitness, she worked
\nfor two years at Planet Fitness. “That’s where I
\ndeveloped my passion,” she said. She also worked
\nat other area gyms before taking on her current
\nfacility.<\/p>\n

The gym was previously known as Spartan
\nFitness. It received a “facelift and rearrangement”
\nand the addition of new equipment before reopening
\nas Elite Fitness.<\/p>\n
