The Warren County Association of Realtors Inc. is changing its name to Southern Adirondack Realtors Inc.<\/p>\n
Officials said the change better reflects its growing membership, geography and service areas, which includes all of Warren County, and portions of Washington, Saratoga and Essex counties.<\/p>\n
“We have been expanding the geography of where our Realtor and business affiliate members are based and do business and so we wanted our name to reflect that growth and diversity,” said association President Angie Mead.<\/p>\n
Mead was recently elected president for 2016.<\/p>\n
The Southern Adirondack Realtors Inc. currently has over 470 professional Realtor members, plus 600 participants in its subsidiary, also renamed as the Southern Adirondack Multiple Listing Service.<\/p>\n
The association began as the Glens Falls Board of Realtors in 1959.
\nThe association, based at 296 Bay Road in Queensbury, provides educational services, marketing and networking programs, a myriad of sales support tools, as well as provides a conduit for real estate professionals to be part of the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in a meaningful and more local way.<\/p>\n
Local businesses who interface with Realtors and their customers benefit from the association’s affiliate level membership, said Mead. Affiliate members include businesses such as attorneys, home inspectors and industry trades, financial institutions and mortgage services. Currently over 50 local and national affiliate members utilize their membership for marketing and supporting the local real estate industry and its Realtors.<\/p>\n
Last year, the association’s programs provided community outreach support to the region. That included member Realtors donating time weekly to deliver meals-on-wheels to shut ins, hosting of two Red Cross blood drives, and providing fundraising efforts to benefit the Adirondack Save-a-Stray, Wait House, South Glens Falls Marathon and the Open Door Soup Kitchen.<\/p>\n
Five families from across the region were supported through their Adopt-a-Family program at the holidays and cases of school supplies were collected and donated to the North Warren Central School through the generosity of the association.<\/p>\n
