The Adirondack Trust Co. has again earned BauerFinancial lnc.’s highest 5-Star Superior rating.

A 5-Star rating indicates that the Adirondack Trust Co. is one of the strongest banks in the nation, excelling in such areas as capital, loan quality, profitability and more, according to BauerFinancial. The bank has earned this highest rating for 39 consecutive quarters.

Established in 1901, the Adirondack Trust Co. has served its customers for over 114 years. Today it operates 12 offices throughout Saratoga and Warren counties.

C.T. Male Associates was honored with a gold award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York in category of Surveying and Mapping Technology for the Empire State Plaza grand staircase rehabilitation high definition 3D laser scan project at the State Museum and Archives in Albany.

Winners were honored at the 49th annual Engineering Excellence awards gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in March. In conjunction with the gala, ACEC New York’s scholarship program awarded more than $50,000 to engineering students in the state.

Barton & Loguidice of Albany earned a National Recognition Award for exemplary engineering achievement in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC) 49th annual Engineering Excellence Awards for designing upgrades to the Million Dollar Beach day-use area at Lake George.

The area provides access for boaters, pedestrians, bicyclists, beachgoers, summer campers, residents, and tourists. The area needed a variety of environmentally responsible improvements to facilities and infrastructure to improve safety and ensure efficient operations.

A new boat launch minimizes disruption to the lake bottom, while a modern roundabout and re-routing of through traffic provides a safer environment for motorists and pedestrians. Many long-standing drainage problems were eliminated by raising the main parking area by four feet and using an innovative asphalt pavement. A permanent boat inspection and washing station with a serviceable sand filter system will help protect the lake from waterborne invasive species.

ACEC recognized 151 projects throughout the nation and the world as preeminent engineering achievements, and all were eligible for top national honors.

Award criteria included uniqueness and originality, technical innovation, social and economic value, complexity, and success in achieving goals.

The Hike Lake George campaign was launched in 2015 in order to promote the parks, preserves and trails managed by the LGLC as important recreational and economic assets throughout the Lake George region. The foundation’s grant will enable the LGLC to expand the campaign’s reach by increasing its presence in regional publications and media outlets.

The LGLC is a nonprofit land trust that works to protect the water quality of Lake George through land conservation. These efforts also result in the establishment of parks and preserves that are opened to the public. LGLC currently manages 18 parks and preserves that are open to the public year-round or by special request with nearly 35 miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and, at some preserves, hunting and snowmobiling.

Stewart’s Shops partners are now receiving their profit sharing statements with 14 percent growth on their existing accounts due to substantial stock appreciation, according to the company.

A statement from Stewarts said the growth is in addition to a $10 million company contribution to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which equals about 15 percent of a partner’s gross pay in 2015.

Stewart’s employees are called partners because they own nearly 40 percent of the company through profit sharing. The ESOP is funded 100 percent by the company.

The ESOP contribution is available to anyone working at least 1,000 hours a year. There are currently 3,600 participants. The original profit sharing plan was established in 1974.
