Leslie Marciano has worked at The Bargain Box consignment store since she was a little girl. The
\nbusiness has remained in her family since 1973 and she is now the owner.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Leslie Marciano has been working at The Bargain Box consignment store since she was
\na little girl.<\/p>\n

She is now the newest owner of The Bargain
\nBox consignment store, a business that has
\nremained in her family since 1973.<\/p>\n

“I started working here when I was nine years
\nold, helping my aunt,” she said. “When I was a
\nteenager I started working more hours each week.
\nI have always loved this store.”<\/p>\n

The Bargain Box is located at 110 Main St. in
\nSouth Glens Falls. Marciano’s aunt purchased
\nthe store from another owner some 42 years ago.
\n“She had it for 35 years before retiring. Then
\nshe sold it to her brother. He passed away and his
\nwife took it over. My aunt decided to retire and
\nshe passed it along to me,” said Marciano.<\/p>\n

Previously the store was located on Route 50
\nin Ballston Spa.<\/p>\n

“My aunt moved the store so she could be
\ncloser to family that lived in Glens Falls,” she said.<\/p>\n

The store is approximately 2,000 square feet
\nin size and has a variety of items for sale on
\nconsignment. There is an extensive assortment
\nof women’s clothing and jewelry, men’s clothing,
\nand home goods such as lamps, clocks, and more.<\/p>\n

There are also knickknacks, pillows, blankets
\nand bedding, books, movies and holiday season
\nitems.<\/p>\n

Marciano said that The Bargain Box carries a
\nvariety of winter clothing, such as snow pants
\nand skiing clothes, as well as ice skates and other
\nwinter exercise gear.<\/p>\n

The Bargain Box does not stock large pieces of
\nfurniture such as couches, according to Marciano.<\/p>\n

“Our pricing is very reasonable,” said Marciano.
\n“The atmosphere is pleasant here. It’s easy
\nto find what you are looking for and easy to
\nbrowse around. A lot of people come in with a
\nspecific idea of what they need and they find it.”<\/p>\n

Marciano feels that interaction with the customers
\nare the best part of working at her store.<\/p>\n

“I love the people. I love seeing them come
\nin and hearing their enthusiasm when they see
\nsomething that pleases them,” she said.<\/p>\n

The Bargain holds
\nweekly sales.<\/p>\n

It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10
\na.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
