As part of a statewide program, LARAC’s
\nCommunity Arts Grants will be awarded again
\nthis year, with deadlines for applying for funds
\nfalling in October.<\/p>\n
Awards are distributed to artists, nonprofit
\norganizations, municipalities, and churches
\nlocated in Warren and Washington counties.<\/p>\n
To apply for an organizational grant, programs
\nmust take place in 2016, be arts and cultural in
\nnature, and open to the public. Each organization
\nmay apply for one to three projects, with a
\nminimum request of $300 per proposal and a
\nmaximum request of $5,000 for one to three
\nprojects. Washington counties.
\nPrograms in the past have included dance
\nperformances, theater productions, concerts,
\nhistorical programs, art\/craft classes and
\nworkshops, readings, and film series.<\/p>\n
To apply for an Individual Artist grant for
\n$2,500, applicants must be 18 years old or over
\nwith their primary residence in Washington or
\nWarren County. The applicant must propose the
\ncreation of new works of art that will be completed
\nwithin 2016.<\/p>\n
The work must be artist initiated and in some
\nway reflect community life, culture and\/or engage
\nlocal communities in the work of the artist. These
\nprojects are seen as ways for artists to lead and
\ndirect the creative process in their communities
\nand to showcase the artist as a community
\nresource. Artists who received an individual artist
\ngrant for 2014 or 2015 are ineligible.
\nThe deadline for the individual category
\napplication is Oct. 23.<\/p>\n
To apply for an arts education grant, programs
\nmust take place in 2016, be arts and cultural in
\nnature, and meet in a K-12 classroom during
\nschool, on at least three separate occasions.
\nOrganizations as well as individual artists may
\napply, with a minimum request of $300 and a
\nmaximum request of $5,000.<\/p>\n
Programs in the past have included dance
\nperformances, theater productions, concerts, and
\nhistorical programs. The deadline for applying in
\nthis category is Oct. 30.<\/p>\n
To be eligible to apply for the 2016 grants, all
\napplicants are required to attend a grant applicant
\nseminar or meet with the community outreach
\ncoordinator for an overview and explanation of
\nthe grant process.<\/p>\n
