This comprehensive assessment is conducted
\nin the comfort of a client’s own home, to assess
\ntheir cognitive and physical ability to drive safely.
\nAn actual driving exercise is also conducted in
\ntheir own vehicle to insure proper safety and
\ndriving procedures are clearly understood and
\nfollowed.<\/p>\n
This self-assessment provides a functional
\nbaseline of one’s ability to continue driving
\nsafely, as well as providing the individual and
\ntheir family the information necessary to make an
\ninformed decision regarding their driving future.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion, a finding of “at risk” or “not
\nat risk” of a future motor vehicle accident is made
\nbased on the collective data. Of the clients determined
\nto be “at risk,” 70 percent will voluntarily
\nretire from driving when the results are personally
\nreviewed, Collins said.

“The ultimate goal is not to take away driving
\nopportunities of older drivers, but rather to offer
