Two area small businesses were recognized during National Small Business Week at the U.S. Small Business Administration\u2019s 19th annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon in Albany on May 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Small businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based on their company\u2019s longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glens Falls National Bank & Trust Co. honored the Bullpen Tavern based in Glens Falls with a the Small Business Excellence Award. The tavern, a downtown Glens Falls sports bar and restaurant, was started by four high school friends, Paul Bricoccoli, Jr., Scott Endieveri, David Krogmann, Jr., and Jason Krogmann. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2013, a fire in an upstairs apartment burned the interior. The partners undertook a complete renovation and re-opened nine months later with a new look. The new Bullpen Tavern also has a second-floor banquet space for 100 guests and two third-floor apartments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 504 Company honored ICC Management and Consulting Inc. in Cambridge, owned by George Scala and Kristen Vanderwarker with a 2017 Small Business Excellence Award. <\/span><\/p>\n

ICC Management and Consulting, Inc. (ICC) provides management and consulting services to adult care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, home care agencies and developers interested in acquiring or constructing senior living facilities. Additionally, it owns and operates two assisted-living facilities licensed by the state Department of Health. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Cambridge is an assisted-living residence accommodating 40 residents in the former Cambridge Hotel, a circa 1885 building which has undergone an extensive renovation. A second property, the Mansion at South Union, is a Medicaid-funded assisted-living program facility in Albany.<\/span><\/p>\n
