{"id":28626,"date":"2017-06-15T14:32:40","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T18:32:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=28626"},"modified":"2017-06-15T14:32:40","modified_gmt":"2017-06-15T18:32:40","slug":"albany-med-creates-preventative-health-plan-targeting-business-execs-busy-schedules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2017\/06\/albany-med-creates-preventative-health-plan-targeting-business-execs-busy-schedules\/","title":{"rendered":"Albany Med Creates Preventative Health Plan Targeting Business Execs With Busy Schedules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A new concept in preventive health care was unveiled at Albany Medical Center in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The only program of its kind in the region, the Executive Health Program was designed to allow busy business executives to tap into Albany Med\u2019s extensive medical expertise, but with the personal attention and setting more reminiscent of a fine hotel than a hospital, officials said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The program is housed in a newly constructed suite at Albany Med.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Executive Health Program was developed for individuals whose time is at a premium but understand the importance of being proactive about their health,\u201d said Kevin Leyden, senior vice president for Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Albany Medical Center. \u201cIt offers access to an outstanding team of health care professionals who can diagnose and evaluate medical problems and formulate preventive strategies.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Dr. Nathan Mitkoff, medical director of the program, it provides \u201ca comprehensive health evaluation, including a cardiac stress test, blood test and uranalysis, history and physical, and discussion of results. Optional services are also available, depending on the patient\u2019s needs. Best of all, tests can be completed in several hours and most results shared during the appointment, which lasts about two hours\u2014again respectful of our patient\u2019s limited time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><!--more-->Dr. Mitkoff conducts patient physicals, gathers medical history and discusses personal goals for a healthy lifestyle, and at the appointment\u2019s conclusion, he discusses test results and devises a strategic plan with patients for long-lasting good health. If, in the course of the assessment, clinicians discover a condition that warrants follow-up treatment, the program will provide immediate referrals to Albany Med\u2019s leading specialists or to experienced specialists and convenient, qualified hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Mitkoff added that the program at Albany Med is designed to complement a patient\u2019s existing primary care provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> \u201cThe program\u2019s intent isn\u2019t to replace a patient\u2019s primary care provider. We provide patients with a copy of their health plan and encourage them to share it with their doctor so it can become part of their permanent medical record,\u201d he said, noting that a specially assigned executive health nurse serves as the patient\u2019s personal navigator. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For more information or to make an appointment, call Eileen Corbett, RN, at 262-1122.
