The business offers art instruction and hosts events like birthday parties.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">By Liz Witbeck<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Robin Brewer has a lifelong passion for art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She worked as an art teacher for Glens Falls City School District for 30 years, before retiring in 2014. Retirement did not keep her settled for long, and soon she found herself working at Sip &amp; Canvas, a painting studio at 21 Bay St. in Glens Falls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She is now the new owner of the business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The painting studio was originally opened in 2014 by Amanda and Trevor Westcott. The two wanted to sell the business. When the opportunity came up, Brewer jumped at the chance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIt seemed like a good fit. I think I can do some good things with it,\u201d said Brewer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She took over ownership of the studio in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">At Sip &amp; Canvas, people are led by an instructor to produce a painting. They can enjoy a beverage while creating their own piece of art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Each day at Sip &amp; Canvas, there is a unique painting being offered, she said. Interested participants can go onto the Sip &amp; Canvas website to see a calendar of paintings. People can find a painting that looks interesting to them and make a reservation online for that night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><!--more-->Brewer recommends making reservations, as spots can fill up quickly. Occasionally there are spots available and the studio does accept walk-ins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Once in the studio, guests don an apron. They are given a canvas, acrylic paints, brushes and all of the tools they will need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">One of the most common concerns that people have is that they believe they are not creative enough to paint, she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cThere is no experience necessary,\u201d Brewer said. \u201cThis is all about having a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">An instructor helps guide guests step-by-step through the painting, which makes creating a work of art easy. While some people like to follow each step exactly, Brewer said it is fine for people to put their own individual touches on the painting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Sipping is an important part of Sip &amp; Canvas as well. The business provides a cash bar, where guests can choose from an array of drinks such as beers, wines, sodas, coffee, and tea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Sip &amp; Canvas can accommodate groups for birthday parties, bachelorette parties and more on almost any day of the week, according to Brewer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The painting studio also welcomes children\u2019s events. Children from 6 to 15 years old can have birthday parties at the studio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">There are artists of varying experiences, said Brewer \u2013 some people are beginners, while others are experienced artists. She wants to find more ways to engage people. At an Open Studio Night she started, guests can come in and choose any painting. This is for people who want more options with paintings, have more art experience, or do not want as much help from instructors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Another idea is wine glass painting nights. Instead of a canvas, guests will receive a clear wine glass to paint and take home.
