Local solar installer Apex Solar Power was named one of the top solar contractors in the U.S. by Solar Power World<\/i> magazine. <\/span><\/p>\n

Apex was 136 out of 500 solar companies ranked by the magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Top Solar Contractors list is developed by Solar Power World<\/i> to recognize the work completed by solar contractors across the country. Produced annually, the list celebrates the achievements of U.S. solar developers, subcontractors and installers within the utility, commercial and residential markets. <\/span><\/p>\n

The list was released on July 25.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe 2017 Top Solar Contractors list features 500 of the best solar contractors in the United States,\u201d said Kelly Pickerel, managing editor of Solar Power World<\/i>. \u201cFrom solar hotbeds on the coasts to the up-and-coming Midwest solar market, every installer adding even the smallest solar array to the grid is making a positive impact on our communities. We\u2019re proud to recognize these companies and their efforts to bring solar power to U.S. homes and businesses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.S. solar market installed more than 14,700 MW of solar in 2016, nearly doubling the capacity installed in 2015, according to the magazine. For the first time ever, solar was ranked as the No. 1 source of new electric generating capacity additions brought online throughout the year. <\/span><\/p>\n

GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) predict the cumulative U.S. solar market to nearly triple in size over the next five years. By 2022, more than 18 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity will be installed annually, and Apex Solar Power will continue to be a major player in adding solar to the grid, company officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apex Solar employs 100 workers, who installed 7,879,000 watts of solar power in 2016, the company said. <\/span><\/p>\n

While overall this put Apex at 136th in the rankings, Apex holds the number 1 spot for rooftop contractors in New York state. Since its founding in 2007, the company has installed 58,179,000 watts of solar, and continues to work hard to educate customers in the region about the potential of solar, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to have ranked in the top 150 in the countr y, and especially to top the list in New York state for rooftop contractors,\u201d said Ben Sopczyk, Apex\u2019s marketing director. \u201cIt\u2019s great to see that our hard work is having an impact, and wonderful to see so many other solar companies doing well throughout the country. <\/span><\/p>\n
