The former 190 Grille and Cinema in downtown Glens Falls will soon be home to a new restaurant<\/span><\/p>\n Craig Merrell, owner owner of the Downtown City Tavern, plans to open the Downtown Social Eatery and Lounge at that location. He said it will offer house-roasted coffee, baked goods, deli sandwiches, a carving station, wine bar and more, including table service for people looking for a traditional dining experience. The 7,500-square-foot space will bring a unique experience to the downtown area, according to George Normandin of Normandin Marketing, who is handling publicity for Merrell.<\/span><\/p>\n 190 Grille and Cinema, located at 190 Glen St.,\u00a0 <\/span>closed in early December, after two and a half years in operation. Merrell signed a lease for the property shortly afterward, according to Normandin.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n He said the hope for the new business is to bring the downtown social scene to a new level through what he describes as \u201ca hybrid dining concept,\u201d offering a variety of food and beverages during the day and then adding in late-night dining and entertainment options.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe space will have private event spaces, entertainment areas and two bars. This unique eatery and entertainment venue is located in the heart of downtown Glens Falls and will perfectly blend a delicatessen, restaurant, wine bar and bourbon room throughout its vast floor plan,\u201d said Normandin.<\/span><\/p>\n From spring through fall, there will be outside seating in front and on the Exchange Street alley side of the property. <\/span><\/p>\n The property is currently undergoing renovations that expected to be completed by late spring. The plan is for the restaurant to open soon after, according to Normandin.<\/span><\/p>\n Merrell is looking to hire between 30 and 50 employees to work in the kitchen, deli and restaurant. The positions will include servers, bartenders, baristas, management, dish washers, and prep, line and sous cooks.
