{"id":31029,"date":"2018-07-11T05:16:25","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T09:16:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=31029"},"modified":"2018-07-12T09:58:36","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T13:58:36","slug":"north-country-ob-gyn-plans-renovation-expansion-of-health-center-on-south-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2018\/07\/north-country-ob-gyn-plans-renovation-expansion-of-health-center-on-south-street\/","title":{"rendered":"North Country OB\/GYN Plans Renovation, Expansion Of Health Center On South Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A renovation and expansion project is underway to transform the home of North Country OB\/GYN (NCOG) at 90 South St., Glens Falls, into a regional destination for women\u2019s health.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The present site, in the center of Glens Falls and across from Glens Falls Hospital, is being redone to create a welcoming and modern center designed to increase accessibility, expand services and improve the patient experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs our only facility dedicated solely to women\u2019s health, we are thrilled to give this important practice the home and space it deserves to better serve our patients,\u201d said Dr. Tucker Slingerland, CEO of Hudson Headwaters. \u201cBy enhancing the current location rather than building from scratch, Hudson Headwaters is adding to Glens Falls\u2019 wider revitalization efforts while furthering our mission to provide accessible, high-quality health care to everyone in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>North Country OB\/GYN, a service of Hudson Headwaters, provides comprehensive women\u2019s health including obstetrics and midwifery, gynecology, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, urogynecology, birth control and preventive screenings for breast and ovarian cancer. The renovations will increase NCOG\u2019s capacity to effectively serve existing and new patients by expanding their usable space from 6,000 to 10,000 square feet and adding additional women\u2019s health providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong our many vital services, we are responsible for nearly 600 deliveries a year at Glens Falls Hospital so staying in our current location is extremely beneficial,\u201d said Dr. Danielle Goertzen, a physician at NCOG. \u201cAnother thing that won\u2019t change is our mission to provide services to all patients regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The updated facility will feature additional exam rooms, routine outpatient procedure suites, ultrasound rooms and expanded patient waiting and check-in areas, officials said. For the first time in the practice\u2019s history, special rooms will be designated for behavioral health and coordinated care management. The expansion will also include on-site laboratory services provided by Glens Falls Hospital.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With a goal of making laboratory services more convenient, this lab will be open to all individuals in need of testing, including patients of NCOG.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a major investment by Hudson Headwaters and a $250,000 grant from the state Economic Development Council, the Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation is committed to raising $500,000 toward the success of this project. Over $375,000 has been raised to date including a grant from the Charles R. Wood Foundation in support of the upgraded facility\u2019s new conference suite for pre- and postnatal group education.<\/p>\n<p>The project commenced this spring with site and parking lot improvements and is scheduled to be completed in early 2019. No disruptions to patient visits are anticipated during construction<\/p>\n<p>Hudson Headwaters is a nonprofit, community-based network of 17 health centers serving the Lake George\/Adirondack and Glens Falls Region since 1981 and the northern Clinton County area since 2012. Services include comprehensive primary care, urgent care, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, behavioral health, dentistry, podiatry, select specialty services, lab and imaging.<\/p>\n<p>The Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation was founded in 2005 to further the mission of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network, a nonprofit organization.
