The gym focuses on small-group fitness classes and training sessions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>By Jennifer Farnsworth<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a little over a month since two couples came together to open up the Fitness Hangar in Queensbury. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Michael and Meghan Howard, along with friends Earl and Jenny Canale, teamed up to create a gym that focuses on small-group fitness instruction, private training and education on proper nutrition.<\/p>\n<p>The 4,000-square-foot spaces is located at 52 Main St. in Queensbury, just a half mile off of Northway Exit 18.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After serving in the military, Michael Howard and Earl Canale felt they weren\u2019t getting the type of physical training they had grown accustomed to, so they came up with their own solution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe places that we tried weren\u2019t the best, so we decided to start our own,\u201d said Howard.<\/p>\n<p>The Fitness Hangar is a veteran owned and Woman Owned Small Business Enterprise. Both couples are dedicated to making the gym different by focusing on small-group fitness classes and training sessions with a maximum of six people at a time. Howard said having small classes with individualized attention from coaches creates a safe environment with long-lasting results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of places try to shove as many people as possible into a class. We believe it comes down to keeping it to small groups of instruction,\u201d said Howard.<\/p>\n<p>The gym is focused on health and fitness and to that end avoids extras such as tanning beds and smoothie bars. Its CrossFit program is a fitness regimen developed by Greg Glassman over several decades. It uses constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity and combines aspects of gymnastics, weight lifting, running, rowing and more.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Elite Training Program focuses on small group instruction with a coach-to-athlete ratio of no more than<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>one-to-four clients, focusing on a variety of mobility, endurance, strength, stamina and conditioning tools.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Howard said they are<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>happy with the response so far.
