{"id":31135,"date":"2018-08-16T12:29:19","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T16:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=31135"},"modified":"2018-08-16T13:58:40","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T17:58:40","slug":"groups-partner-on-new-cancer-respite-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2018\/08\/groups-partner-on-new-cancer-respite-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Groups Partner On New Cancer Respite Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Silver Bay YMCA Conference and Family Retreat Center and Hudson Headwaters Health Network recently agreed to partner to increase the positive community impact each organization has on the Adirondack community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Steve Tamm, chief executive officer of Silver Bay YMCA, the organization is expanding its already successful cancer respite program with their newest partner, Hudson Headwaters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSeveral years ago, Silver Bay launched a community outreach program specifically designed to support patients who are actively being treated for cancer,\u201d said Tamm. \u201cBy providing temporary respite to patients and their immediate families at no cost, this program gives these individuals the opportunity to reconnect with their loved ones and enjoy a reprieve from the stresses and financial challenges associated with a battle against cancer. A few wonderful days on the restorative shores of Lake George is one way we try to make a difference.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since 2015, over 100 individuals and families have utilized the program through an existing partnership with Glens Falls Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The program is 100 percent funded by donors to the Annual Fund for Silver Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cLooking to expand this impactful program, we approached Hudson Headwaters, as it is clear they are an organization also looking to improve the lives of North Country residents,\u201d said Tamm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Hudson Headwaters Chief Executive Officer Dr. Tucker Slingerland said, \u201cWe are thrilled to make a connection with Silver Bay and for the opportunity to provide a respite experience in an incredible setting for our patients and their families.
