The awards are judged by leaders of the indie book publishing industry, including many with long careers at major publishing houses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAdirondack Archangels\u201d is a collection of essays by and about individuals who have worked to protect the Adirondack Park and its highest peaks. The book comprises thirty-nine essays and includes a foreword by celebrated writer Bill McKibben and over 250 photographs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">All proceeds from \u201cAdirondack Archangels\u201d go to support the High Peaks Summit Stewardship Program. The program focuses on educating hikers, protecting and monitoring the alpine summits, and training the next generation of environmental stewards. The program is a partnership of ADK, the Adirondack Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> * * *<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <b>Glens Falls Community Theatre<\/b> (formerly known as the Glens Falls Operetta Club) awarded $2,000 in scholarships to two area high school students who are attending college and will pursue a degree in music, music education, theater, dance or technical theater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two $1,000 scholarships were presented to the following students: Case Prime from Lake George High School who will be attending Columbia College of Chicago majoring in music technology; and Brandon Sarti from South Glens Falls High School who will be attending SUNY Fredonia majoring in musical theater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Glens Falls Community Theatre has donated more than $100,000 in scholarships to talented area students over the past 82 years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Students in 25 school districts in Warren, Washington, and Northern Saratoga counties were invited to apply for the scholarships.
