\nSurfside On The Lake, 400 Canada St. in Lake George, is completing some projects as it anticipates opening for the season. Those include a major deck extension and a restaurant renovation.
\nSurfside director of sales Mark Dawson said they are planning to have all major renovations completed before the height of the summer season.
\nThe first project, he said, is a two-tiered 2,500-square-foot deck that is an extension out from the pool area, overlooking Lake George. Dawson said the deck is comprised of Trex composite decking, used for the planks of the deck, with custom stainless steel railings to finish it off. It will be able to accommodate various outdoor events.
\n\u201cWith the exceptionally sturdy construction, we will be able to fit wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours,\u201d said Dawson.
\nAnother project in the works is what Dawson described as a facelift to the north wing building on the property. The renovation plans include new walls, curtains, lighting and doors.
\n\u201cThe inside of the rooms have already been done. The doors are still being finished, so we are not exactly sure at this time when they will be done,\u201d said Dawson.
\nThe last major project, already completed, is the Club Hamilton restaurant. The restaurant received new paint, ceilings, chandeliers, LED lighting, stage lighting for dinner shows, and bathroom renovations. The bar also received an upgrade with a new audio system, flat screen television, new lights and paint.
\nDawson said they are planning to add a banquet kitchen to the newest building on property.
\n\u201cWe have already purchased the equipment, so now it\u2019s just a matter of converting the space we have into a space that can function as a kitchen. This will allow us to host more functions simultaneously and efficiently. We are heading to make a bigger splash in the wedding and group market,\u201d said Dawson.
\nTo be ready for the summer, the resort undergoes a massive spring cleaning. Dawson said everything gets power washed, from the buildings to the sidewalks. The beach gets new sand, the pool is sealed and filled, new beach chairs are lined up and the sidewalks get re-sealed.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s all hands on deck with the nearly 30 employees on staff. In a few weeks we will have more than double that. We had other small improvements all over the property as well. We are extremely excited for our guests to see the love that we have put back into this resort. We wanted to give back to them for coming back to stay with us, some since the 1960s,\u201d said Dawson.
