Campbell<br \/>\nMichelle Krasny started a career coaching business to help people achieve more quickly what it took her a decade to do: love their job.<br \/>\n\u201cI was studying neuroscience and behavior and was on course for a medical degree and Ph.D.,\u201d said Krasny. \u201cBut I was just a tiny human who didn\u2019t know what I wanted.\u201d<!--more--><br \/>\nSo she \u201crambled,\u201d she said, \u201ctrying on different careers\u201d until someone hired her as a coach. She worked with that employer for about a year, got certified, and set up an independent practice in Glens Falls two years ago.<br \/>\n\u201cCareer coaching is the practice of helping someone see how amazing they are and use that knowledge in any scenario, not just in the work realm,\u201d Krasny said. \u201cMy 10 years of rambling and running away from bad situations informed my new career. Now I help people not take 10 years to achieve their dreams.\u201d<br \/>\nHer job as a coach is not about giving advice. She said she helps people one-on-one to \u201cdraw their own map.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMany clients are people between jobs or making a shift. Some are struggling with lack of fulfillment or burn-out,\u201d said Krasny. \u201cThese individuals may be directors, lawyers, authors, business owners and other professionals. They followed all the rules and are now saying, is this it? I\u2019m running myself ragged.\u201d<br \/>\nSo she partners with clients in crafting goals, such as more clarity or greater fulfillment. Then she draws out their inner strengths, in the course of which \u201cpeople discover what they really care about,\u201d Krasny said.<br \/>\n\u201cI am selling clients a relationship with me,\u201d she said. \u201cMany clients reach their goal and find they want to move forward, so we create a new one. I feel success when I help someone feel amazing.\u201d<br \/>\nClients feel success in any number of ways. For those who want to earn more, it may be money. Some metrics are far less tangible, she said.<br \/>\n\u201cEveryone has an inherent self-worth,\u201d Krasny said. \u201cI am in the business of helping people know they\u2019re perfect as they are and don\u2019t need fixing.\u201d<br \/>\nMichelle Krasny Coaching is not Krasny\u2019s first business endeavor, \u201cbut it\u2019s the easiest of the other businesses I have started,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nShe operated a graphic design studio and a company that manufactured eco-friendly textiles.<br \/>\n\u201cMy experiences were an education much cheaper than an MBA,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nKrasny speaks at women\u2019s networking groups about the Imposter Phenomenon to help audiences step out of their comfort zone and stop doubting themselves, she said.<br \/>\n\u201cWhen someone successful says to themselves, \u2018you don\u2019t belong out here,\u2019 it makes it impossible to internalize the belief in your own abilities,\u201d said Krasny. \u201cThis is not a women\u2019s issue but a human issue brought to the forefront by Drs. Clance and Imes in 1978.\u201d<br \/>\nShe said her clients are 50\/50 men and women, but most career coaches she knows are women.<br \/>\n\u201cFrom my own experience, I think human interpersonal skills are rewarded more in women,\u201d she said. \u201cThis profession seeks those skills, a high level of emotional intelligence, and compassion.\u201d<br \/>\nLearn at\u00a0www.michellekrasny.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Susan E.
