Having returned in 2018 after a five-year hiatus, Drum Corps International\u2019s Marching Music\u2019s Major League will return this summer to East Field in Glens Falls.
\nThe drum corps has been a Glens Falls tradition since 1981.
\nThe Glens Falls Music Academy Showcase, is set for Monday, July 22, at 7 p.m.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s been my intention with the Music Academy to help elevate musical cultural awareness in our region, and this is a way to expose a ton of kids and adults to a high caliber musical experience in an approachable and exciting way,\u201d said Chris Reed Jr., owner of the Glens Falls Music Academy.
\n\u201cMy hope is that every kid from every band program and dance company in the region will come. This really is a spectacle. You can\u2019t understand it until you see it,\u201d he said. \u201cI remember seeing Adirondack Drums when I was 12 years old and loving it. Every kid who\u2019s in middle or high school band right now will hopefully come to this and be inspired\u2014maybe even audition for one of the northeast Drum Corps.\u201d
\nThe open corps lineup for 2019 currently includes the Raiders of Burlington, N.J.; the 7th Regiment of New London, Conn.; the Legends of Kalamazoo, Mich.; the Spartans of Nashua, N.H.; and Southwind of Mobile, Ala. Additional teams may be added.
\nGeneral admission tickets range from $20 to $28. Tickets for ages 4 to 12 are $16, and ages 3 and under are free with adult ticket.
\nBest price tickets are available for sale in person at the Cool Insuring Box Office at 1 Civic Center Plaza in Glens Falls or online at www.glensfallsmusicacademy.com. Ticket prices increase $5 the week before the event (July 15).
\nDrum Corps International is the nonprofit governing body for junior drum and bugle corps in the U.S. and Canada. It is composed of member corps who have earned their membership through competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
