The Adirondack Thunder partnered with Associates of Glens Falls Insurance (AOGF) and Loomis & LaPann Inc. to donate $2,750 to the Moreau Community Center\u2019s backpack program.
\nAOGF and Loomis & LaPann agreed to donate $25 for every Thunder home goal scored in the 2018-2019 regular season.
\nAdirondack scored 110 goals at home this season. The Thunder have now contributed more than $5,600 to the backpack program over the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

A program that offers free transportation assistance to individuals in Warren and Washington counties who have had recent health issues has launched.
\nUplift Warren Washington, billed as \u201cA Ride Back to Health,\u201d is an initiative that provides bus tokens\/passes, taxi vouchers, and gas cards to individuals who have been discharged from a hospital or emergency room within the past 30 days.
\nTransportation assistance is available for medical appointments not covered by Medicaid transportation; department of Social Service appointments; care\/case management appointments; obtaining prescriptions, medical supplies, or equipment; participating in community-based support groups; immediate access to needed groceries.
\nThe program is a partnership of Adirondack Health Institute, the Baywood Center, Greater Glens Falls Transit, and Tri-County United Way.

O\u2019Brien Insurance Agency in Glens Falls is offering to exchange old, tattered American flags with new ones for Flag Day.
\nThe flag exchange will be on Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the agency, at 83 Bay St., Glens Falls. The agency purchased flags locally from St. Andrews Ace Hardware in Queensbury and will give a new flag in exchange for a retired one at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
\nThe worn flags will be disposed of properly and ceremoniously by the American Legion.<\/p>\n

ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) has released a new and expanded edition of its popular guidebook \u201cAdirondack Paddling: 65 Great Flatwater Adventures.\u201d
\nThe book describes paddling day trips throughout the Adirondack Park, including on new state lands acquired since the first edition was published in 2012.
\nWritten by Phil Brown, the expanded edition includes four new trips made possible by the landmark Finch, Pruyn conservation deal: Boreas Ponds, Essex Chain Lakes, Blackwell Stillwater, and County Line Flow. Brown also added a chapter on Jabe Pond, in the hills above Lake George.
\nBrown retired last fall after 19 years as editor of the Adirondack Explorer, a nonprofit magazine with focuses on environmental conservation and outdoor recreation.
