John McDougall, third from left, and Robin McDougall, to his left, accepted the award.<br \/>Courtesy SBA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two local small businesses in Warren County and two in Washington County were recognized in May at the U.S. Small Business Administration\u2019s 21st Annual Small Business Excellence Awards luncheon in Albany.<br \/>\nSmall businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based on their company\u2019s longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions.<!--more--><br \/>\nNBT Bank presented a 2019 Small Business Excellence Award to Lake George Distilling Company LLC, owned by John McDougall and Robin McDougall at 1162 State Route 149 in Fort Ann.<br \/>\nThis start-up business began in 2013 and grown sales over that period 707 percent, said nominator Timothy LaSarso, NBT Bank senior commercial banking relationship manager.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are a small family business that has grown from two employees to 16 at the height of the season. We turned our passion for craft spirits into a successful business and we look forward to serving the Adirondack Region for years to come,\u201d said John McDougall, company co-owner.<br \/>\nThe 504 Company presented a 2019 Small Business Excellence Award to Morcon Inc., owned by Joe Raccuia at 879 Route 22 in Cambridge.<br \/>\n\u201cJoe and his team have transformed Morcon Tissue since acquiring the company in 2013, growing both revenues and margins as well as creating good paying U.S. manufacturing jobs in rural areas,\u201d said nominator Ross Pancoe, The 504 Company senior vice president.<br \/>\n\u201cMorcon has more than doubled its business over the past five years. An integral part of this growth has been the outstanding support we received from the U.S. Small Business Administration. This partnership has certainly propelled us to new heights. We are extremely grateful for this recognition,\u201d said Joe Raccuia, Morcon, Inc. owner.<br \/>\nAdirondack Trust Co. presented a 2019 Small Business Excellence Award to Kenyon Pipeline Inspection LLC, owned by Jake Kenyon and Josh Kenyon at 68 Park Road in Queensbury.<br \/>\nGlens Falls National Bank &amp; Trust, NA presented a 2019 Small Business Excellence Award to New Way Lunch, owned by Peter Gazetos, Susan Gazetos, Nicholas Gazetos, and Alexandria Gazetos at 3748 Main St. in Warrensburg.<br \/>\n\u201cFour generations of the Gazetos family have served quality lunches to the Glens Falls area for 100 years.
