{"id":33017,"date":"2020-03-13T10:44:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T14:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=33017"},"modified":"2020-03-16T10:54:06","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T14:54:06","slug":"nbt-bank-starts-student-loan-repayment-program-for-all-full-time-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2020\/03\/nbt-bank-starts-student-loan-repayment-program-for-all-full-time-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"NBT Bank Starts Student Loan Repayment Program For All Full-Time Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Student loan debt is a challenge gripping the nation with $1.5 trillion in debt, transcending all generations, with statistics showing that nearly one-third of borrowers are over the age of 40.<br \/>\nIn response to this troubling trend, NBT Bank has launched its own Student Loan Repayment Program for its full-time employees to help them reduce the outstanding balance on qualifying student loans.<br \/>\nThe program is part of the company\u2019s financial wellness initiatives.<!--more--><br \/>\n\u201cStudent loan debt is an issue impacting so many of today\u2019s professionals, yet about 8% of companies offer assistance for their employees,\u201d said Catherine Scarlett, NBT\u2019s chief human resources and ethics officer. \u201cNBT Bank is proud to be out in front of this challenge, in offering our own Student Loan Repayment program to help alleviate this burden on our employees.\u201d<br \/>\nThe program offers contributions in the amount of $100 per month to the qualifying loans of full-time employees for up to 60 months.<br \/>\nThe company has also reevaluated and updated several other employee benefits, including a new paid family leave policy that will provide mothers and fathers paid time off at 100 percent of pay following a birth, adoption or foster placement.
