He has overseen the congestive heart failure clinic, while also serving as director of cardiovascular rehabilitation. He previously served at Danbury (Connecticut) Hospital and St. Luke\u2019s-Roosevelt Hospital. He earned his undergraduate and medical training at Emory University and Morehouse School of Medicine, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Celadon, of Queensbury, assistant director at the Joyce Stock Snuggery, is an area native who has had a decades-long relationship with Glens Falls Hospital. She began her career as a graduate nurse and over nearly 20 years, advanced to staff and leadership roles at what would later be known as the Joyce Stock Snuggery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><!--more-->Mihaly, is vice president\/investment department manager for Glens Falls National Bank &amp; Trust Co. He is also president of North Country Investment Advisers, Inc. He brings two decades of experience in the investment industry to the board, as well as several years of community volunteering, through the Wellspring DVRC in Saratoga Springs and the Children\u2019s Museum in Saratoga Springs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> Also new in 2020 is the appointment of Katherine Herlihy Schwenker as the chair of the board of trustees, Andrew Brodie as vice chair, and Marc Monahan as secretary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> * * *<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-33211\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-mantaras-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-mantaras-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-mantaras-65x65.jpg 65w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced May 8. that SUNY Empire State College President<b> Jim Malatras<\/b> will chair the state\u2019s new Reimagine Education Advisory Council to assist schools and colleges in adopting technological innovations to reopen safely in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">SUNY Empire Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs <b>Meg Benke<\/b> will also serve on the council as an expert in higher education, particularly online and distance learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> The 19 members of the task force will consider how to utilize technology to provide more opportunities to students, how schools can share educational resources, how technology can reduce inequities, and better meet the needs of students with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-33212\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-benke-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-benke-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/109\/2020\/05\/p-brief-benke-65x65.jpg 65w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Malatras has served on the state\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force for the past two months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> Benke is a leader in adult learning and emerging technologies, and previously served as SUNY Empire\u2019s dean of the Center for Distance Learning from 1995 through a period of high growth and experimentation in online learning programs. SUNY Empire State College led the country in the development of fully online degree programs, with the first online courses launched in 1995, and in the provision of comprehensive virtual student services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She was inducted into the International Distance Learning Hall of Fame for her contributions to adult and online learning, and was recognized as the Most Outstanding Achievement in Online Learning by an individual in the Online Learning Consortium (OCL) in 2007. She also served as president of OCL\u2019s board of directors for six years.
