Brian and Mark Johnson have officially launched StayHomeNY.com, a start-up business focused on providing remote monitoring technology to home care agencies, independent, assisted living and memory care facilities.
\nUsing 4D thermal imaging technology, nurses, staff and family members can remotely monitor a senior living at home or in a residential care community 24 hours per day, according to the owners, who are brothers.
\nThe senior is not required to wear a bracelet or lanyard there is no video monitoring, ensuring the senior\u2019s privacy. The technology detects all types of falls (gradual, fast and concealed) and recognizes activity of daily living patterns, such bathroom use, in bed sleeping, or wandering in the middle of the night, they said.
\nFall detection technology allows for quicker response times by family members and\/or staff and the behavior pattern detection can help uncover if a senior is having adverse reactions to medications, dietary complications or has a mental health concern, according to Johnson.
\n\u201cThis technology is a game changer in the senior living community,\u201d said company president Mark Johnson. \u201cOur technology has the ability to keep people either in home or in assisted living longer by proactively managing behavior patterns and detecting falls in real time.\u201d
\nIf a fall is detected, the facility or home care agency can be alerted instantaneously through a dashboard that monitors all active devices, he said. For independent living or home care agencies, the alert can also go directly to a family member through a phone call or a web application installed on their smart phone. Through central monitoring this could also trigger a response by EMTs instantaneously.
\nJohnson said many senior living facilities have already deployed the technology and its provided differentiation in the long-term care community. Since COVID-19, StayHomeNY.com has seen increased traffic from consumers and caregivers, as this provides a safe alternative to in person welfare checks on residents and loved ones.
