{"id":35640,"date":"2022-09-19T09:35:49","date_gmt":"2022-09-19T13:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=35640"},"modified":"2022-09-19T09:35:49","modified_gmt":"2022-09-19T13:35:49","slug":"business-briefs-september-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2022\/09\/business-briefs-september-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Briefs: September 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Glens Falls Hospital<\/b> is among some 118 hospitals in New York state recognized by the American Heart Association for consistently following up-to-date, research-based guidelines to ensure all patients have access to lifesaving care.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some 118 hospitals in New York are among the 2,600 nationwide that participate in the American Heart Association\u2019s Get With The Guidelines initiative to improve outcomes for Americans who experience heart disease or stroke.<\/p>\n<p>In New York, 82 hospitals or hospital systems were recognized this year, as well as hospitals in the Guthrie Hospital System, based in Pennsylvania, but with New York affiliates.<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>The Southern Adirondack real estate market saw a continuation of recent trends in July, with low inventory, higher prices and quick sales, according to the <b>Southern Adirondack Realtors<\/b>. On average, homes spent less than three weeks on the market and sellers received more than asking price.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said new listings in the region decreased 10.4 percent in July compared to last year, from 637 to 571. The inventory of homes for sale dropped 33.2 percent, from 1,459 to 974, and pending sales decreased 9.6 percent, from 499 to 451. Closed sales were down 11.4 percent, from 507 to 449. Sellers received 103.7 percent of their list price in July.<\/p>\n<p>The median sales price increased 19.4 percent in July compared to last year, jumping from $301,477 to $360,000. Homes spent an average of 20 days on the market last month, compared to 35 days last year. The months supply of inventory decreased 20 percent compared to 2021, from 3 to 2.4.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s2\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span>The <b>Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce <\/b>will hold its next quarterly classroom session on the topic of Managing Distractions for Optimal Productivity.<\/p>\n<p>It will be held 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>at Bryan Hall on the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>SUNY Adirondack campus, 640 Bay Road, Queensbury.<\/p>\n<p>Cost is $30 for ARCC Members and $40 for non-members.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s fast-paced, post-COVID, hybrid workplace and short-staffed society, it is more difficult than ever not to be distracted and remain effective with time management. This interactive workshop will provide the following information to help attendees more effectively manage distractions: How distractions negatively impact our productivity; understanding why our brains seek distractions; determining each person\u2019s own major distractors; and exploring ways to manage distractions and increase productivity.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker will be John Delate, Ph.D., vice president of enrollment and student affairs at SUNY Adirondack.<\/p>\n<p>Registration online at www.adirondackchamber.org.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><b>Stewart\u2019s Shops<\/b> announced its milk has been named the best in New York state by the Cornell University Department of Food Science.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The award was presented on Dairy Day, Sept. 1, at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. The recognition is part of Cornell\u2019s New York State Milk Quality Improvement Program.<\/p>\n<p>Cornell University collected samples from New York state plants in October and May. The samples of whole milk, 2 percent, 1 percent, and fat free milk were scored on various criteria, including best flavor. Milk samples are judged on microbial analyses, fat determination, freezing point and flavor.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart\u2019s works with 20 local dairy farms to source raw milk. They pick up the milk daily, process and bottle it themselves at a manufacturing plant in Greenfield.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Adirondack Thunder<\/b> announced that single-game tickets for the upcoming 2022-2023 season are on sale.<\/p>\n<p>The Thunder will play a 36-game home schedule, with opening night taking place Saturday, Oct.29th at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Single-game tickets can be purchased at the Seat Geek Box Office at the Cool Insuring Arena, at the Thunder Front Offices inside the Cool Insuring Arena or at seatgeek.com\/adirondack-thunder-tickets.<\/p>\n<p>Full Season ticket packages, partial season ticket packages, and flex ticket packages are all on sale for the 2022-23 season.
