{"id":36019,"date":"2023-01-16T14:50:50","date_gmt":"2023-01-16T19:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=36019"},"modified":"2023-01-16T14:50:50","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T19:50:50","slug":"foundation-gives-funds-to-community-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2023\/01\/foundation-gives-funds-to-community-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation Gives Funds To Community Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Common Roots Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Common Roots Brewing Co., announced<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>grants to be awarded to nine recipients, all aimed at community and environmental wellness.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The $20,000 in grants from the foundation<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>add to a total of more than $47,000 given since the organization\u2019s inception in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Amounts range from between $1,000 and $2,500.<\/p>\n<p>Recipients include:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>Books Offer Opportunities Kids Succeed, which provides 10,000 free books to kids in low-income families.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>The Crandall Park Beautification Committee, which updates and provides improvements to Crandall Park in Glens Falls.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>The Glens Falls Youth Center, which provides aid for educational, recreational and life skills programs for kids in grades 5-12.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s2\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span>\u2022 <\/b>Habitat for Humanity, which builds affordable homes in the area.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>St. Mary\u2019s Food Pantry, which supports the <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>local chapter of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and serves as many as 100 families per week.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>Tri-County Literacy, which aids high school GED, English as a new language and literacy tutor programs.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>Up Yonda Farm, which provides aid for outdoor recreation and education.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>Wait House, which supports services for homeless youth ages 16-24<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 <\/b>World Awareness Children\u2019s Museum, a hands-on children\u2019s learning space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we first established the Common Roots Foundation, our goal was simple: to give back to the tremendous community that supported us through difficult times and continues to step up for their neighbors,\u201d said Common Roots Foundation board president Bert Weber. \u201cBetween our sustaining and new members, well-attended fundraising events, and our first legacy partner, Boralex, the Foundation has been able to support even more programs that are truly making a difference in the lives of the people we want to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Common Roots Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Common Roots Brewing Co., announced\u00a0 grants to be awarded to nine recipients, all aimed at community and environmental wellness.\u00a0 The $20,000 in grants from the foundation\u00a0 add to a total of more than $47,000 given since the organization\u2019s inception in 2021.
