{"id":36516,"date":"2023-07-13T10:57:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T14:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/?p=36516"},"modified":"2023-07-13T10:57:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T14:57:12","slug":"irving-tissue-plant-in-fort-edward-plans-to-build-a-66200-square-foot-warehouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glensfalls.com\/glensfallsbusinessjournal\/2023\/07\/irving-tissue-plant-in-fort-edward-plans-to-build-a-66200-square-foot-warehouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Irving Tissue Plant In Fort Edward Plans To  Build A 66,200-Square-Foot Warehouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Susan Elise Campbell<\/p>\n<p>Irving Tissue Fort Edward will soon begin construction on a 66,200-square-foot warehouse on existing property connected to the Fort Edward facilities, according to plant manager Eric Dawson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to announce an expansion at our tissue manufacturing plant to include a new warehouse,\u201d said Dawson. \u201cThe added space will be used to store our large parent rolls on site and reduce waste from offsite paper handling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The manufacturer is currently finalizing permits and expects the construction to be complete in 12 to 14 months, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are currently working on approvals,\u201d Dawson said. \u201cAs we are not looking for variances, we expect to move quickly and effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dawson said the expansion at the Fort Edward plant does not change any plans Irving Tissue may have for its Schenectady warehouse and will not create additional employment opportunities. However, the company has positions to fill in a variety of operational roles.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The workforce in Fort Edward currently consists of over 350 full-time and 100 temporary employees, he said. Irving Tissue purchased the Fort Edward facility in 1996.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s2\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u201cSince then, we have continuously invested in plant expansions, modernization, and new equipment and technology to upgrade and enhance our competitiveness,\u201d said Dawson.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cIrving Tissue\u2019s long-term plans are focused on growth and this warehouse expansion project is a strategic step toward achieving those plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Irving Tissue is committed to the areas where its employees live and work.
