Hey foodie friends! I hope you’re all enjoying this mild weather as much as we are. It was so nice today, we were inspired to grill steak for dinner! The market had some great mesclun greens, tomato, avocado & locally made, fresh mozzarella cheese on hand today. Add to that the great rib eyes that were on sale and we were good to go! Gus whipped up a nice fresh salad dressed with olive oil, lemon & fresh herbs for our side dish.
Just let the salad sit so the flavors can mingle. In the mean time, let the steaks rest in some blackening seasoning mixed with an applewood seasoning blend (or your seasoning of choice) while the grill gets nice & hot. Steaks cook best if you let them get to room temperature before you throw them on the grill.
Grill the steaks for about 5 minutes on each side for medium rare. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes to seal in the juices. If you cut them right away, you’ll lose the juices and the steaks could dry out.
It’s as easy as that! Don’t let the time of year tell you that you can’t grill steak for dinner! Go for it!
Think about grilling dinner this holiday season. It frees up some oven space and is a great way to roast a prime rib, chicken or some seafood. You can also consider grilling veggies or potatoes in foil. It cuts down on the dishes you have to wash and gives you a reason to step out for a breath of fresh air when you have a full house.
Food for thought when you’re planning your holiday meal. Trust me. It’s a good one! Happy holidays foodie friends!
We’re looking forward to next week’s foodie photo of the week! Keep them coming!
