1. Receiving a scholarship by the Institute for Organization Management (the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce) is a huge accomplishment! How did you feel when you found out you were chosen?
I was both humbled and honored to be a recipient of a Regent Scholarship for this prestigious management program. My first year at Institute was tremendous and I’m looking forward to returning again this July.
2. What do you think is the most beneficial aspect of attending the Institute?
Without question, it’s the relationships. Having the opportunity to meet and network with such a diverse group of Chamber professionals from around the country is key for all of us to better represent our members and expand our organizations’ influence.
3.How do you think attending the U.S. Chamber’s Institute program will affect your future?
As I’ve outlined the remainder of my career within the Chamber world, my hope is that attending Institute will increase my knowledge and understanding of the Chamber world, making me a greater asset to the Adirondack community and this industry.
4. It seems like everyone knows you. What is your secret to networking and making connections? Have you always been outgoing?
The simple answer is… I love it! When you’re fortunate enough to work with so many extraordinary people and businesses, it’s not difficult to engage in dialogue about future professional benefits and win-win scenarios. Yes, I have always been outgoing. I can’t help it, it’s innate.
5. How did you get started at the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce?
Before I started working with ARCC, I was a member and volunteer for eight years. From Day One, I was both attracted to and intrigued with the inner workings of the organization, which is why I can truly say, “I love my job” for the past three-and-a-half years.
6. What do you feel most accomplished about in your career?
This goes back to an earlier question about my “secret”… simply put, I love helping people connect and be more successful. Most recently, I’m proud to significantly increased Chamber member engagement the first four months of this year over last.
8. Did
you always grow up in the area?
I was born and raised in South Glens Falls (go, Bulldogs!) I spent five years away from the area pursuing my education but returned not only because “there’s no place like home”, but because this region offers the best of my faves, most notably golfing, hiking, and friends. Interestingly enough, I completely renovated the home in which I grew up and my wife and son and I now live there.
9. What
is your favorite thing about living in the area? When you’re not working what could we most likely find you doing?
My favorite aspect of living in this area is without question, the people. My friends, my family, my colleagues. When I’m not working, you can find me hanging out with my 18-month-old son, Christopher (my wing man!) I also love golfing, hiking, biking – pretty much anything in the great Adirondack outdoors.
9. What is your favorite band? Your favorite movie?
The Irish folk band from Saratoga… The McKrell’s. Kevin McKrell actually came up and played for my surprise 40th birthday party and I loved it.Tin Cup with Kevin Costner, Renee Russo and Cheech Marin. I know, I know… it’s cheesy – but it’s a golf movie. Don’t judge!
10. Finish
this sentence. The Glens Falls Region is….
My home. I love it!
